frustrated

This afternoon I realized I couldn't find my keys to my bike. I had them this morning, and then I had to run errands. I got home later and I wanted to unlock my bike but that's when I couldn't find my keys.  I looked all over. I couldn't find it. hopefully they turn up.  I played with my sister's guitar and then I felt better.

The Coping Skills Box

My coping skills box helps me to calm down when I feel upset or angry. I put several things in my coping skills box to help find ways to relax.
  1. I have a boat and car that I can build.
  2. Paper to tear and color.
  3. A punching balloon that I can hit.
  4. Lego Star Wars.
  5. Styrofoam to poke with toothpicks
  6. Coloring
  7. Kuminimo (Japanese Braiding)
  8. Bubble Wrap (The goal is to pop all the bubbles!)
Here are some pictures of my coping box projects.

Breakfast

This morning I was feeling grumpy because....

there wasn't any cold cereal . I did not want eggs or pancakes. This made me feel grumpy. For a coping skill I went up to my room and rested.

I did not use my coping skills box this time. I will write about that tomorrow.

This book looks like fun! I think I will give this book a try!

Disappointed

This morning I woke up feeling disappointed because....

I had plans to go on a hike with my dad, but couldn't because it was cloudy and rainy. So I sat until I felt better.
Later I worked on my favorite car, the Mustang. It was white and I painted it red. I then took out the seats and I painted it black. The seats were red. I like painting because it helps me to relax.

Me and Wiley (the police dog)

This is a picture of me and Wiley the police dog. Wiley helped me to calm down once when I was really upset and angry. I use to hit, throw things, break things, scream, and yell. Sometimes it was so bad that the police had to be called to help me to calm down. Sometimes it was so bad that I had to go to the hospital. I am happy that I haven't had to stay at the hospital for a long time now.

I like Wiley because he is a German Shepherd and he is friendly. My favorite dog is a German Shepherd. In this picture I was allowed to hold his leash. Wiley is a nice police dog.

Feelings Charts

These are my feelings charts they help me communicate to my parents how I am feeling. I use six frames for these charts, because I can experience several emotions at once. I use several frames, because I can become overwhelmed and frustrated if I only have one frame. I made these feelings charts with the help of Nicole and Melissa.

Instructions to make your own feelings charts:

  1. Construction Paper
  2. Markers
  3. Colored Pencils
  4. Pencil
  5. Pen
  6. Ruler
  7. Scissors
  • Fold your construction paper in half 3 times.
  • Unfold your construction paper. You should have 8 rectangles.
  • Take your black marker and trace over the fold marks.
  • Draw a face in each rectangle to show an emotion
  • Draw what makes you feel that emotion above the face
  • Write the word of the emotion below the face
  • Color your pictures
  • Have an adult help you laminate your charts
